About Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering is a professional programme which helps students to understand the working mechanisms of heavy tools and machineries. The branch applies principles of engineering, physics and material science for the design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. The course covers technical areas like distribution of electricity through generators, transformers, transmission lines, lighting and wiring in buildings. A course in mechanical engineering makes a student gain knowledge and experience in the designing of electric motors, automobiles, aircrafts and other heavy vehicles. Mechanical engineering demands knowledge about software used in technical work like computer-aided design and mathematical modelling.
For UG: - Should have passed Class XII in Science stream with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA
For PG: -
Minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks or First Class in the qualifying degree. Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Technology.

Basic RequirementsTo be eligible for bachelor's degree course i.e. B.E. or engineering, colleges in other states grant admission based on marks scored in 12th Std. exam, particularly in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Diploma holders can also get direct admission into second year of engineering in the same stream in which they have completed their diploma
Mechanical Engineering: Eligibility Criteria
The basic eligibility requirement to pursue a Mechanical Engineering programme at the UG and PG level is:
Undergraduate (UG): Students should have passed Class 10+2 exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects. They should also have secured minimum aggregate marks of 60% in the above subjects.
Postgraduate (PG): Aspirants must have completed a BTech degree in the same specialization with a passing percentage in aggregate of the subjects studied at the degree level.
