Institutes like LHMC or CMC, Vellore are such colleges who have really high brand value and post graduates from these colleges are always eyed by hiring teams and other people in the society

All about MD - Fee Structure

The MD course fee can vary widely depending on the type of institute - private or public. Also, within these two groups as well the fee may vary from one institute to another; the variation is more pronounced in private colleges than in public colleges, as could be expected.

Speaking of fee charged by public colleges, the premier medical institute in the country, AIIMS Delhi and the other AIIMS charge an annual tuition fee of only Rs. 702. Other components of fee structure include pot money, electricity, Gymkhana Fee, and caution money. The total annual fee after adding all the components is less than Rs. 2000. Also, AIIMS doesn’t charge any hostel fees from its students. While some. of the other government medical colleges may charge a bit higher, still it is far less than what is charged by private institutes.

For example, CMC Vellore, which is a private institute, charges Rs. 1200 an annual tuition fee, Rs. 15,000 as one time establishment fee, and Rs. 1,20,000 as university fee. The total annual fee comes out to be around Rs. 1,42,000. This fee is probably on the lower side for a private institute, as some institutes charge much higher.

Given the disparity in fee structure between government and private colleges, it is no surprise than most students would ideally like to take admission into a government institute. But the consequence of this is that the competition for a government seat is higher, and the candidate would need a good rank, whatever the exam may be - NEET PG, AIIMS PG, or JIPMER PG.
